Other Transit Projects. Metro manages many other capital projects in addition to MetroBus Centers. The projects can include transit plazas, garages, buildings, MetroLink extensions, or any other major improvement or alteration to existing services.

The Delmar Streetscape & Transit Plaza is designed to encourage and support redevelopment, and provide a pedestrian-friendly connection between the Delmar Loop MetroLink Station and the popular University City Loop area which is a couple of blocks west on Delmar. The Delmar Loop MetroLink Station is located on Des Peres Avenue at Delmar Boulevard. The project has two components: the Streetscape and the Transit Plaza.

The Delmar Streetscape component of the project, completed in 2004, has enhanced Delmar Boulevard in the City of St. Louis from Skinker Boulevard east to DeBaliviere Avenue. Under this component sidewalks were widened, landscape was planted, and decorative sidewalk paving was installed between Skinker Boulevard and Hodiamont Avenue. In addition, a new median was installed with landscaping between Hodiamont Avenue and DeBaliviere Boulevard along with sidewalk repair and even more landscaping.

The Delmar Transit Plaza component of the project when complete will provide a customer-friendly plaza where MetroBus passengers can wait for and transfer between buses at the Delmar Loop MetroLink Station. The plaza will include attractive shelters, seating, information kiosks, and landscaping. A completion date for the transit plaza has not been set.

Funding for the entire project was provided by the Federal Transit Administration, City of St. Louis, Federal Highway Administration, and the ¼ cent Proposition M Sales Tax which was passed in August 1994.
