MetroBus Maps and Routes
Metro has completed one of the most significant transit service expansions in our history. MetroLink now offers light rail service and nine new MetroLink Stations in the Central Corridor of St. Louis City and County. But this expansion includes much more than the MetroLink extension:
- MetroBus routes around the Shrewsbury–Lansdowne I-44 MetroLink branch are now feeder routes to MetroLink, providing faster, streamlined long distance trips.
- Metro has established three new MetroBus Transfer Centers. One is at the new Shrewsbury–Lansdowne I-44 MetroLink Station. Several new MetroBus routes connect South County and South City neighborhoods via MetroBus to this new Shrewsbury MetroBus Transfer Center. These routes offer more direct southwest-southeast cross-town service to Mid-County than in the past. In addition, Metro has added more MetroBus service at the new Riverview MetroBus Transfer Center on the edge of north city and county, and at the new Brentwood I-64 MetroBus Transfer Center, located at the new Brentwood I-64 MetroLink Station. These are joined by the recently opened MetroBus Transfer Center adjacent to the main BJC Hospital complex and Washington University School of Medicine.
- Two new "mega" express routes—one serving South County and the other serving North County have been implemented. West County has a new express feeder service connecting to the Brentwood I-64 MetroLink station. Service frequency during the peak hour is every 10 minutes between the Ballas MetroBus Transfer Center and the new Brentwood I-64 MetroLink station. Enhanced frequency has been provided on the 410X Eureka Express that continues to operate to downtown St. Louis. These routes also offer extended commuter hours of operation.
- Later night and earlier morning service on key MetroBus routes serves customers with jobs requiring off-hours, and evening and weekend shifts, representing the largest area of employment growth in the St. Louis region in the past five years.
- Metro has developed a single route (93 Midtown) to help conventioneers and tourists visit more of St. Louis’ attractions. The route serves primary downtown hotels, and connects many of the City’s most significant tourist venues including Soulard, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, City Museum, Grand Center, Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, the Missouri Botanical Garden, and the Euclid and Hill area business districts.
- Arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes in advance of the scheduled arrival time.
- Before boarding MetroBus, verify that the lighted sign above the windshield shows your desired route number and destination. Most routes do not display the route name on the destination sign. The sign will display the route # and the ultimate destination (for example, #70 Grand or #56 Kirkwood Manchester to Maplewood Commons). Several different bus routes may use the same bus stop. If you have any questions about which bus goes to your destination, ask the MetroBus Operator before you pay your fare.
- MetroBus fare is purchased aboard MetroBus vehicles; exact cash fare is required. Once you board the bus, place the proper fare in the fare box. In addition, you may present a valid Pass or Multi-Use Transfer. If you qualify for a reduced fare, advise the MetroBus Operator and provide identification (e.g. Metro Reduced Fare card). If you need to connect to another MetroBus route or to MetroLink, inform the MetroBus Operator that you also need to purchase a transfer. Please note that MetroBus Operators cannot make change. Alternatively, if you have a ticket or transfer, give it to the Operator. Transit passes may be used to ride any MetroBus service during the period that the pass is valid. If you have a transit pass, swipe it through the fare box or show it to the MetroBus Operator.
- Find a seat and watch for your stop. Once you have boarded, take a seat and watch for your stop. If you are traveling with children, make sure they remain seated during your trip. MetroBus Operators will announce all major intersections. Using radios without ear plugs, smoking, eating, and drinking are prohibited on all Metro vehicles. Approximately one block before the bus reaches your destination, pull the cord or press the strip between the windows to signal the bus operator that your stop is approaching. You may depart from the front or the rear door.
- Transferring from MetroBus to MetroLink. If you wish to transfer to MetroLink, retain your Pass or Multi-Use Transfer (valid until the expiration time). Please keep your fare (Ticket, Transfer, or Pass) handy for review by a MetroLink Fare Inspector.
MetroBus hours vary by route and day of the week. These maps, routes, and turning directions for MetroBus are in the Portable Document Format (PDF) and require the free Acrobat Reader plug-in from Adobe. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you may download it for free from Adobe's website. The latest versions of Acrobat Reader include support for screen readers (Accessibility) via the Microsoft Active Access API (MSAA).
